JCM CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME

Jesus Cares recognizes that education is not only essential to child development, it is also a right enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Education is also a tool used in the rehabilitation of children withdrawn from child labour and the street.

In Zambia access to quality education is a challenge to many children given high levels of poverty which stand at 80 percent of the population in an environment of HIV pandemic.

Jesus Cares has established the Sponsorship Program to help orphans and other vulnerable children with education by linking these children to individual sponsors. A monthly contribution of US$ 30 will cover basic education needs. US$ 5 of this amount goes towards administration.

The sponsor will be provided with reports on the welfare and performance of the child. Direct communication with the child is also encouraged.

Name: Esau Mwale Age: 13 yrs Grade: 4 Parents: Single orphan, his mom has no means of supporting all her 6 children. As young as 9 years he went to live in the street. Now he is living with JCM.
