Sponsor: Geneva Global Project: Prevention of Blindness Programme Description: Prevention of blindness in the Health education through school pupils (15-17 years olds) in grades 8 and 9 on environmental sanitation and personal hygiene in order to prevent eye infections that may lead to blindness. • Provision of Vitamin A through school feeding program to children of between 5 and 8 years old in grade 1 of primary school in order to prevent such eye disorders as night blindness and corneal damage that lead to blindness. • Care and support of blind children and children of blind parents and economic empowerment of their guardians Target Area Luapula Valley districts of Nchelenge, Kawambwa and Mwense  Target group • 4500 children on Feeding programme (with Vitamin A rich foods) • 18,000 children on a teaching programme • 800 families on Income Generating Activities (IGA`S) • 45 PTA Members and • 45 Teachers
